Special Events -- School Visits and Partners' Programme

The following venues have been selected for the partners' programme, and for visits to local schools. The events listed will take place on April 17, 18, and the morning of April 19. The exact times and other details will be available at registration.

Vaal Reefs Mine, 37 miles from Potchefstroom $ 6 US 5 hours
Specialized Protein Products, a local Soya manufacturing plant in town applying the latest technology. $ 2 US 1 1/2 hours
Faan Meintjies nature reserve, 35 miles from Potchefstroom. Wild animals including zebra, rhino, antelope. $ 10 US 5 hours
Buffelsvlei nature reserve, 12 miles from Potchefstroom. Ample indigenous and foreign animals (lions in separate camp). $ 6 US 3 hours
Potchefstroom Historical House Museums. This includes the Totius museum, President Pretorius museum and Fleischack museum, all located in Potchefstroom. $ 2 US 1 hour

Sisters of Africa, a gift and curio wholesaler. Local women manufacture art crafts and curios on site; souvenirs are on sale. $ 2 US 2 hours
Diamond mining at Rysmierbult, 30 km from Potchefstroom. $ 4 US 4 hours

* Boitshoko, a high school in Ikageng township
* Ikalafeng, a special school for the intellectually challenged
* Vaal Reefs Technical High School
*Centrla Primary and GIrls High, two non-racial schoolswhere integration has successfully taken place for some time. Girls High has a record of 100% matric pass rage for the past 21 years.
*Seithemelo, a secondary school in a former squatter camp.
